Resources Program
Our Resource program:
-provides an informational booklet, complied by Here2hear, with resources and local programs information on hearing loss, hearing aid and tinnitus.
-provides free hearing protection to small groups and organizations.
Effective Communication Emergency Kits
- Emergency kits that were developed by Here2hear. These kits will assist individuals that are deaf and hard of hearing with communicating effectively during different emergency situations. In addition, these kits contain information for emergency preparedness. The kits are typically provided to the general public once a year during our Here2hear kit distribution event and for low income individuals in need. Kits are distributed based on availability.
Hearing Tests and Healthy Ear Examinations
-provides free and low cost hearing tests and heathy ear examinations by a licensed audiologist.
Hearing Aid Program
-provides free and low costs hearing aids to individuals with hearing loss.
-provides loaner hearing aids to individuals in transition of receiving new hearing aids. You must meet certain requirements and reside in the following localities in Virginia:
Richmond, Henrico County, Chesterfield County, Colonial Heights, Charles City, Petersburg
Community Education Program
-Members of Here2Hear will provide free educational seminars to the general public. presentation topics include, but are not limited to hearing loss, tinnitus, hearing protection, etc. The locations and dates of the seminars will vary. Businesses and Organizations can also request educational seminars that can conducted onsite at the requested facility.
We also are big supporters of local community and national organizations that help to support individuals with hearing loss.
Lower It or Lose It
-off site program to teach children about hearing and how to protect their hearing from damage and hearing loss. This program is designed for children ages 13 to 17. For more information, click on the Lower It or Lose It tab on top of this webpage.
The Advocacy Program
As advocates in the community, our advocacy program includes a number of options to assist individuals with all degrees and types of hearing loss.
We are available if you would like to discuss ADA matters that have affected you, would like to report circumstances that you feel should be researched or matters that require advocates. This includes but not limited to:
